About the role:
At Gratsy, we believe work should be challenging, purposeful, and fun! We are seeking an experienced accountant to join our internal finance and accounting team. As a part of this team, you will be responsible for monthly and annual general ledger close procedures with an emphasis on expense tracking and profitability reporting through accrual-based accounting. This role will provide accounting support across the business, helping to streamline reporting, tracking, and overall processes.
Strong communication skills, an eagerness to learn and explore across all areas of the business, and the experience and ability to analyze data, discern and make informed financial decisions will be keys to the success of this role.
How you'll make an impact:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for revenue and expense accruals, variance-to-budget analyses for income statement accounts, month-over-month variance analyses for balance sheet accounts, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable invoices, verify payment transactions, and reconcile vendor statements.
- Meet both internal and external monthly and annual reporting deadlines, maintaining a high level go integrity in reporting.
- Monitor and reconcile cash flow, assisting in the strategic scheduling of payments and follow-ups on receivables, always prioritizing transparency and ethical processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of the data that flows to the general ledger.
- Prepare schedules and supporting financial data in conjunction with the issuance of annual financial statements and tax filings.
- Prepare data and schedules in support of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Assist in the analysis of financial data and provide insights to company leadership for decision-making purposes.
- Update and/or create documentation of processes and procedures to enhance the overall quality of journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and financial reporting efforts, with a focus on ethical practices.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, acting with trustworthiness and maintaining confidentiality.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, participate in special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
Role qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3 years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably within a dynamic or start up business environment.
- 3 years of experience with QuickBooks
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
- A demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial concepts.
- Clear and concise communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work well under pressure while always maintaining a productive work environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Strong understanding of cash flow management and financial best practices.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the larger finance team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstration of strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with and a clear ability to read and analyze financial reports.
- A passion for details with demonstrated initiative in process and follow-through.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with the flexibility to adapt processes as needed for the business.
Additional preferred qualifications:
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred.
