Grayhawk is actively searching for an experienced drywall & acoustical ceiling estimator for our Lexington Kentucky office. The ideal candidate will have a background in estimating metal framing, gypsum board, acoustical ceilings, and EIFS. Computerized estimating experience is preferred.
Qualifications
3 years of experience estimating for a wall & ceiling contractor or self-performing general contractor.
–OR–
5 years of experience estimating architectural trades other than wall and ceiling systems.
–OR–
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, or business management and field experience.

Requirements

- Proficient in Windows-based programs including Bluebeam, Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficient with estimating software such as, The Edge Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or Quickbid.
- Possess industry knowledge for conditions and requirements which can increase or decrease the difficulty level of a project as a whole or in part.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action.
- Possess judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command.
- Ability to consistently analyze and execute financial tradeoffs which frequently involve dealing with incomplete data and ambiguity.
- Capacity to establish and maintain customer relationships.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of employees within the company.
- Must be adaptable and enjoy working in a fast pace work environment.
- A flexible schedule for evening and weekend commitments.
- Understand and implement company processes and participate in updates.
- Understand and effectively use our estimating software, The Edge.
- Attend Pre-bid meetings and communicate with the General Contractor and Design Team during the bid process.
- Fully understand the scope of work for the bid.
- Complete accurate takeoffs, with supplier and subcontractor quotes, for metal stud framing, gypsum board, insulation, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, and allied carpentry work as needed for a qualified bid.
- Follow-up and actively pursue submitted bids by selling the value of Grayhawk and asking for the sale.
- Complete job setup of requirements after the award, including contract review, organizing quotes, establish budgets, memorializing verbal agreements, and scope clarifications.
- Attend and lead the estimator hand-off meetings to prepare the operations team.
- Maintain current working knowledge of the latest updated building codes, fire codes, materials, equipment, and processes through the use of publications, seminars, and internet research.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local customer base by participating in association events, company events, general contractor functions, and seminars.
- Establish a working relationship with field personnel and be available for questions regarding projects.
