Host or Hostess welcome patrons, escort them at designated table or in the lounge area and ensure quality of facilities and service.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet guests and escort them at their table or within waiting area.
- Provide guests with menus.
- Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to the rotation so that servers receive an appropriate amount of seating.
- Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls when needed.
- Take and prepare to-go orders.
- Operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages. (not sure)
- Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed.
- Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service.
- Receive and record patrons' dining reservations.
- Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary.
- Plan parties or other special events and services.
- Help coworkers to improve workflow and customer service.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
- Previous experience as a host/hostess preferred.
- Must successfully complete restaurants training course.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
