Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting our cooks in delivering high-quality meals in a fine dinging establishment. Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
- Support cooks during meal preparation by following instructions and ensuring timely delivery of dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes (occasionally), sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Adhere to food safety standards and practices to ensure the health and safety of all kitchen staff and patrons.
- Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other food preparation tools.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices is required; culinary training is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining extreme attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform tasks that require lifting and moving items up to 30 pounds.
- A passion for cooking and eagerness to learn more about meal preparation techniques and plate presentation.

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
