Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill six (6) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) entry level Kitchen Positions for the Memorial Union Global Community Kitchen (GCK) at Oregon State University (OSU).
Anticipated starting hourly rate : $15.90. Anticipated hours per week : 10-15 hours.
The Memorial Union (MU) is the campus student union and a department of the division of Student Affairs. The MU is geographically located in the middle of the campus and is considered the "living room of campus". The MU welcomes students, faculty, staff, visitors and the local community to campus, and its mission is to provide learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive and resource-rich community where student and staff collaborate with a Student Advisory Board, who are influential to the character and scope of the department and provide the budget recommendations for the facilities the MU is charged with, services and programs. The MU provides community centered inclusive facilities and space that creates an environment for building meaningful relationships. The Memorial Union exists to develop students, create learning opportunities and provide quality facilities and services.
Position Duties
The Global Community Kitchen enhances campus programming by partnering with students to utilize food for cultural sharing, learning, and community building. The program provides advising, resources and support in the planning, development, and serving of food as the focus or a component of programming.
- Support in overseeing food preparation of volunteers using commercial kitchen equipment while following proper safety protocols.
- Set up, serve, and break down food lines for events, ensuring food is prepared and served safely and efficiently.
- Fostering a sense of unity and belonging by assisting volunteers with questions about menu items, dietary needs, and kitchen guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to Benton County Health food service sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to support event logistics, maintaining inventory, and administrative tasks as needed.

High School student : Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Additional Required Qualifications
Must obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card prior to beginning employment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. And standing for extended periods of time.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Expected to work frequent evening and weekend hours, as required, to support programming
Required to attend weekly staff meetings, supervisory meetings and professional development sessions
