Great American's Alternative Markets Division was formed in 1999. The division specializes in mono-line and/or multi-line primary admitted programs on either a traditional guaranteed cost (Elite Programs) or risk-sharing basis (Agency Captives & Group Captives). Alternative Markets supports both niche programs and generalist portfolios.
All partnerships, whether risk sharing or not, benefit from a high level of exclusivity, tailored underwriting and claims service. Lines of business supported include: Workers Compensation, General Liability, Property, Inland Marine, Auto Liability and bolt-on Cyber on a supporting Package, GL or BOP policy.
Our Alternative Markets Division is looking for a Subrogation Representative to join their team. They are open to candidates who would work out of an office in Cincinnati, OH, or Windsor, CT, but will also consider candidates who are 100% remote.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct third-party clam investigations for auto, property, and worker compensation claims in order to determine any third-party subrogation potential.
- Evaluates legal liability and aggressively pursues, negotiates, and resolves subrogation collection.
- Communicates with lead assigned adjusters, policyholders, claimants, witnesses, insurance carriers, law enforcement, District Attorneys, Personal Injury attorneys, and underwriters to obtain/provide the necessary information.
- Maintains and controls assigned subrogation files and diaries.

Assigns lawsuits to counsel and oversees case handling:
- Monitors application of Litigation Management Program.
- May attend pre-trials, trials, and settlement conferences.
- May process loss and expense payments. May assign claim numbers and/or initiate manual payments.

Successfully completes all coursework/education as assigned:
- Builds understanding of the different roles, such as Underwriting, Product, etc.
- Develops knowledge and terminology specific to customers and their business.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Criminal Justice, Business or a related discipline
- Generally, 1 to 3 years of related experience.
