Key Accountabilities
Under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, the Aagard Sanitor 2 is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, set-up, and troubleshooting of Aagard automatic packaging machines according to the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures outlined by the Great Kitchens Sanitation program. We hold safety as the top priority and quality in our product to the highest level. A sanitary work environment is essential for ensuring safe, quality product is delivered to our customers.
A successful Aagard Sanitor 2 must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, which includes some weekends and holidays. Must be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment, be safety-focused, and not be afraid to get "dirty."
Responsibilities
- Maintains cleanliness, sanitation and upkeep of Aagard automatic packing machines in accordance with Great Kitchens Sanitation program requirements and food safety standards.
- Responsible for all cleaning of soiled supplies and equipment used in the Aagard automatic packing machines.
- Maintains upkeep of Aagard automatic packing machines by removing trash and food debris from floors, cleaning conveyors and interior surfaces of the machines.
- Utilize air hose, air gun, and ladder properly and safely.
- Performs inspections and troubleshooting on Aagard automatic packing machines and immediately reports any needed repairs to Maintenance and to Supervisor.
- Test run to verify machine is functioning correctly
- Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a Supervisor immediately.
- Efficiently disassembles and assembles equipment for set-up according to the production schedule and runs performance tests prior to the start of production.
- Adheres to all GMP guidelines in the performance of job.
- Is aware of the chemical properties and proper use of cleaning solutions and applies knowledge in their proper use.
- Provides daily communication to management to report any issues with set-up testing, machine function, or packaging.
- Keeps Aagard storage area orderly and clean at all times
- Follows rules and regulations to ensure food safety, quality, and legality.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of other departments.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required by the Manager or Supervisor.
- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Assume duties of Sanitor in the event of call-offs or the need for additional Sanitors.
- Assist Production with folding inners after completion of the Aagard set-up and testing.
- Immediately report any unsafe acts or safety concerns to Supervisor.
- Responsible for upholding, following and maintaining the requirements of the BRC Food Safety Code for Manufacturing.
- Assist with Training new hires assigned to clean Aagard.
- Provide support/guidance/tools/PPE to sanitors assigned to clean Aagard.
- Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Advanced reading, writing and math skills
- Good communication skills (verbal & written); bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
- Forklift experience preferred, but not required.
- Hard working, dependable, safety conscious and team oriented.
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

The employee is expected to carry, twist, bend, stretch, and stoop in conjunction with frequent lifting between 10 to 100 pounds of supplies and trash with the aid of co-workers.
Pushing / Pulling
With the aid of co-workers, the employee is expected to frequently push/pull drawers, racks, pallets with packaging, hoses, brooms, and tools required for cleaning the machines.
Climbing
Climbing a ladder to reach overhead areas is frequently required.
Handling / Feeling
Hand and finger movement is required frequently to wash, clean, and store supplies.
Exposure to Temperature Changes
This occurs frequently when cleaning within the Production area.
Seeing / Speaking / Hearing
This position requires an employee to have adequate communicating and observational skills due to the operation of Aagard automatic packing machines, conveyors, gears, motors, and other moving parts. These requirements are for the safety of the employee and co-workers. These requirements are also necessary for counting activities, collecting and distributing tools and supplies to staff and communicating with co-workers.
Head / Neck Movement
Frequent flexing, extending, and turning the neck is required.
