What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Technician - FTTx Installer position at Great Lakes Cabling Solutions?
As a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Installation Technician, you will play a crucial role in deploying and maintaining our industry leading FTTH network. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality installations, troubleshooting any connectivity issues, and providing exceptional customer service. This job is based in Western Michigan, specifically Allegan and Ottawa Counties.
Key Responsibilities:
FTTH Installation: Conduct site surveys to determine the best placement of fiber equipment and plan installation routes. Installation of Aerial Fiber Drop Wires on Poles and Messenger Cable (Aerials) . Install and terminate fiber optic cables at MSTs and Fiber NIDS as well as at customer premises, ensuring proper connections and signal strength.
Equipment Setup and Configuration:
Configure, connect, and set up customer premises equipment such as routers and Gateways
Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform thorough testing of installed equipment to verify optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. Identify and rectify any connectivity or performance issues
Customer Interaction: Provide clear and concise instructions to customers on using FTTH services and troubleshooting basic issues.
Address customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and any necessary repairs or upgrades.
Experience:
- Drop Wire Installation (Aerial) 1-2 years (Required)
- Fiber Termination, Testing 1-2 years (Required)
- Computer networking: 1-2 years (Preferred)
