We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our team. Your main responsibility will be to order supplies and equipment in accordance with our company’s needs.
This will involve researching new vendors, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate order records, including dates, invoices, and discounts. Familiarity with supply chain procedures is important for this role.
Responsibilities
- Working with the purchasing manager to run the purchasing department
- Performing vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency
- Managing purchase orders and maintaining purchase records
- Working with warehouse staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
- Monitoring stock levels and identifying purchasing needs
- Researching potential vendors
- Tracking orders and ensuring timely delivery
- Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
- Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
Skills and Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a purchasing position
- In-depth knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory and supply management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain vendor relationships
- Ability to use purchasing software
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Positive and professional demeanor
