What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Coordinator position at Great Lakes Energy?
Member Service Coordinator
Great Lakes Energy is looking for a member service coordinator to support and coordinate efficient scheduling, call center support, cashiering and reception duties.
Who We Are
For over 85 years, we have powered rural communities across 26 counties in western and northern Michigan. We serve over 128,000 meters as the third-largest Michigan-based electric utility and the state's largest member-owned power company.
We prioritize enriching the lives of our community members. We not only provide electric service, but we also provide reliable and robust fiber technology through Truestream, a communication solutions subsidiary of Great Lakes Energy.
We have over 300 employees who are more than just colleagues - we're a close-knit family of diverse professionals united by a shared vision. Our collaborative environment encourages creativity, empowers growth, and fosters a sense of purpose in everything we do.
A Day in The Life of a Member Service Coordinator
Member service coordination at GLE is all about variety. You spend a fair amount of your day on the phone assisting members and coordinating construction efforts. You're not just behind-the-scenes, you are front-line too, cashiering and backing up our call center. You act as a "traffic director" of sorts, coordinating between member needs and operations scheduling. You have a primary reporting location, but you may be called on to help in one of our other seven service areas sporadically, so flexibility is key.
Who You Are
You're the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and multi-tasking is second nature to you. You like variety in your day and feel accomplished after a hard day's work. You're familiar with a variety of computer programs and you find it easy to communicate with others without face-to-face contact. Teamwork is important to you, and you enjoy scheduling and coordination. Your high school education and customer service experience is considered relatable from many different industries. We would love to see electric distribution coordination or call center experience, but any customer service experience may be considered for this entry-level role.
What's in It for You?
You are valuable to us, and our benefits are here to show it. That's why we put employees first-your health, your family, and your development. We have a number of benefits, both traditional and progressive, to support you and your family through life's various stages. Here's just a taste of what we have to offer:
- The Essentials - We cover the cost of comprehensive health insurance. You'll be hard-pressed to find better for you and your family...seriously!
- Time to Spend- Generous paid time off (PTO) puts you in the driver's seat, letting you decide how to make the most of your time away from work.
- Better Health Through Better Living- Healthy employees are happy employees. Our diverse wellness program supports your physical, financial, and mental well-being.
- When Life Hands You Lemons - We know life doesn't always go as planned. That's why we offer life insurance, as well as short- and long-term disability insurance-fully paid by GLE to provide peace of mind when the unexpected happens.
- More Time with Your Baby-New parents get time off to bond with their new bundle of joy. Parental leave benefits provide two weeks of family-friendly paid leave for moms and dads to bond and care for their growing families. Growing your family through adoption? You're awesome! We may be able to help you with related expenses up to $2,000.
- Never Stop Learning - We hire talented people for a reason, and we want you to stick around. That's why we invest in your training and development. Whether it's advancing your education, learning new skills, or job shadowing another role, we're here to support your career growth.
