Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Organize Medical Assistant program of clinical and academic instruction including demonstrations of skills required, and lectures on theory, techniques and terminology.
- Recruits, trains, and supervise faculty.
- Update existing curriculum to keep relevant according to the local industry
- Maintains adequate inventory of supplies, equipment, books, including safety measures within the program
- Maintain student retention at minimum acceptable standard of 75%.
- Manage the externship/clinical rotation program, including planning, implementing, documenting, and visiting employers.
- Assists students with graduate employment, assuring an overall placement rate of 85%.
- Maintain system of organizing, administering and/or documenting student certification/licensure/registry exams and results
- Organizes and facilitates Program Advisory Committee meetings twice annually
- Participate in orientation, graduation, open houses, and other public relations activities, as planned
Classroom Instruction
- Provide instruction in courses, as assigned.
- Prepare a course syllabus with daily lesson plans.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grades, attendance, and conduct.
- Track classroom behavior in regard to absenteeism, tardiness, and discipline.
- Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to students for academic advisement and tutoring.
Requirements
- Knowledge of both clinical and clerical medical assistant procedures
- Strong customer services skills with attention to detail
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical assistant
- Current certifications required: Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- BLS Certification preferred.
- Associate’s degree preferred
