Job Summary:
The Assistant Program Manager assists the Program Manager in the management of the residential unit. This includes planning, coordinating and supervising the functioning of the program, staff and residents. Manages resident behaviors by following the Sanctuary Model and trauma informed treatment, and directs the daily routine of the residential unit. Works with residents individually and in groups to further treatment objectives. Employs their knowledge and skills in directing and assisting assigned staff in meeting program expectations. Engages residents in various treatment modalities while practicing the Sanctuary values and Commitments, that include but are not limited to individual and group therapy and counseling, therapeutic recreation, socialization and educational activities.
Primary Functions:
Manages the daily structure and functioning of the group living environment to assure conformance and compliance to governmental regulations and agency policies and procedures.
Develops a therapeutic trauma informed relationship with clients.
Responsible for the supervision, training and management of assigned staff.
Supervises staff in establishing and maintaining a therapeutic living environment, in accordance with agency program guidelines, in conjunction with the Therapist.
Assists in developing and implementing daily therapeutic recreational activities for residents.
Meets weekly with treatment team members to present critical historical and current resident data in order to identify and refine treatment issues and to develop treatment strategies and interventions, based on trauma informed care.
Records treatment observations and services provided to residents and completes necessary reports in accordance with agency and program policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related degree and minimum three years experience in social service or mental health, preferably with youth or families. Management experience is strongly preferred, and good written and oral communication skills and cultural competence is required.
Current clearances are required upon hire.
