Shipping and Receiving Manager

Great Lakes Roofing Corporation (Germantown, WI) has an opening for a Shipping and Receiving Manager. Here, you'll utilize your management experience while sharpening your systematizing skills. This is a hands-on job guaranteed to exercise your logic, critical thinking, and creativity - daily.

As Shipping and Receiving Manager, you will be responsible for our warehouse, fleet, and department personnel. Each day has numerous opportunities to collaborate with other departments and communicate directly with both customers and vendors. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience managing a shipping and receiving department and will possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidates are able to work independently and able to take initiative in solving problems as they arise.

Responsibilities of a Shipping and Receiving Manager:

• Order, receive, inventory, and track rotation of materials and equipment across departments and job sites. (ie: don't forget equipment on a rooftop)
• Enforce safety programs to maintain our zero-incident safety culture plus compliance with all company, DOT, OSHA, DOL and legal regulations or policies. (we're big on Safety here)
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to your Crew; together, resolve issues encountered in the logistics and planning processes to improve performance. (you're smart and have years of experience - help create improved efficiencies)
• Prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects successfully simultaneously. 
• Foster productivity, a sense of urgency, conscientiousness, compliance, and collaboration among your 5-10-person Crew to ensure efficient and accurate department performance. (this Crew is already amazing!)

Duties of a Shipping and Receiving Manager:

• Oversee shipping/receiving via advanced shipping notices, pick slips, bills of lading, etc.; identify issues and implement solutions in a timely manner (emphasis on inventory control)
• Document the operations, planning, and logistics activities accurately and appropriately, and according to established formats
• Analyze demand forecasts, work orders, and invoices daily to estimate shipping, storage, and delivery requirements; use this information to process resource allocation requests.
• Cultivate department staff including training, discipline documentation, performance reviews, determining staffing requirements for busy seasons, heading recruitment efforts, and interviewing potential hires as needed.
• The Material Handling Crew includes our custom metal shop and equipment repair shop, which you'll oversee, assist and troubleshoot as needed
• Manage and maintain department vehicles: trailers, cranes, forklifts and trucks, according to check-up schedules then initiate appropriate actions to remedy and meet company standards
• Consistently review warehouse operations to determine overall levels of efficiency, safety, employee morale, and production; present findings and suggested changes to leadership
• Maintain the interior and exterior of the warehouses by performing/ contracting for any necessary repairs or up-keep

Requirements of a Shipping and Receiving Manager:

• 5 years of demonstrated supervisory experience and/or training in Shipping and Receiving Management
• Have in good standing a CDL-A for manual vehicles, or the ability to train and earn one
• Strong organizational abilities, including the ability to continually reprioritize to meet changing work conditions and customer requirements
• Strong process orientation and ability to manage complex workflows while maintaining your sense of humor, perspective, and commitment to professionalism
• Must be dependable, complete assigned tasks accurately and on time, and possess excellent follow-through
• Must be open to working long hours and weekends as needed; busy seasons come and go
• Must exhibit a high degree of urgency and commitment to resolving transaction errors
• Speech and hearing abilities sufficient for constant in-person and telephone communication.
• Possess the physical ability to stand for extended periods, to move freely throughout the warehouse and office area, to assist in a truck or on a roof as needed
• Proficiency in digital software for inventory, ordering, and communication, including Microsoft Suite, iPhones, and ERP systems
