Associate General CounselAssociate General Counsel Apply locations : 735 Randolph St, Detroit, MI 48226Time type : Full timePosted on : Posted 6 Days AgoJob requisition ID : R25_0000000014Compensation$92,400.06 - $181,762.56 (Based on Experience)SummaryThe Associate General Counsel directs, plans, coordinates, and supervises the operations and activities for legal strategy and advice on matters impacting the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA); prosecutes and defends legal actions, prepares, reviews, and interprets legal documents, develops and implements policies and procedures, budget administration, organizes tasks and sets priorities that involve a high level of independent judgment, initiative and discretion.Job ResponsibilitiesAct as legal policymaker for the organizationProvide legal support to the GLWA and its BoardPrepare, coordinate, represent and support GLWA’s representation in legislative and public processes and proceedingsPrepare, prosecute, coordinate, represent, litigate or assist in the litigation of GLWA interests in administrative proceedings and cases, ranging in difficulty and impacting Michigan or federal jurisprudenceConduct or assist in the conduct of investigationsResearch, draft, prepare and review and advise on legal documents including but not limited to forms, contracts, memoranda, opinions, client advisories, and correspondenceDevelop, coordinate, implement, and conduct legal strategy and negotiations in support of GLWA business objectivesProvide advice, counsel and support for business initiativesExercise management authority as delegated by the General Counsel, during the absence of the General Counsel, or as necessary to further the legal interests of the organizationMaintain current active membership in the State Bar of Michigan with knowledge of law and practice in relevant areasFollow safety policies and procedures in carrying out dutiesA valid Michigan Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrainProvide on-the-job trainingRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degreeJuris Doctor’s degree from a law school approved by the American Bar Association preferredCurrently actively licensed to practice law within the State of Michigan with 5-10 years of experience preferredBenefitsComprehensive benefits package effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
