Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Energy Assistance Manager you are responsible for delivering excellent service for the Energy Department clients, including office visitors, and assist in the administration of the Energy Department with a variety of tasks including helping clients through the application process, assuring the accuracy and completeness of client files, and assisting with the departments reporting and tracking needs. In this position, you will be working and coordinating regularly with the Weatherization Department. You must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be very computer literate.

Essential Functions

· Provide friendly and understanding services to applicants from various socio-economic backgrounds and make referrals to other departments and services as necessary.

· Understand thoroughly all aspects of intake, outreach and the processing of applications;

· Assist with identifying and resolving issues in internal databases and client tracking systems;

· Use applicable software and systems to issue client benefits, make payment pledges, and prepare vouchers and communications;

· Assist in supervising Energy Assistant I & II positions, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, and maintaining productivity and quality standards

· Assist with client file review prior to processing and provide feedback and training to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements;

· Assist with direct benefit budgeting, compiling monthly records, and billing information when requested;

· Oversee the CARE PEV program and train staff on providing those services;

· Ensure coordination with the weatherization department to facilitate client referrals and avoid duplication of efforts;

· Work as a team in order to have the department run efficiently;

· Perform other related duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities: Energy Assistants I and II.

Work Environment

This job mainly operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Accountable to contribute to a safe and healthy work environment. This includes, but is not limited to: Complying with safety rules and practices and notifying manager/supervisor immediately of any safety/health concerns.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds for person handling supplies, regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position 40 hours per week Monday to Thursday.

Travel

Occasional travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent

· One year of administrative or related experience
