Fabrication Lead - 1st Shift - Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is currently seeking a 1st Shift Fabrication Lead in Salina, KS. This position will work M-Th from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment
- Monitor and manage safety, productivity, delivery, and the quality of fabricated products
- Supervise, coach, mentor, train and promote career path opportunities to team members
- Conduct performance reviews with team members
- Generate check fixtures, pride implements, and demonstrate basic understanding of press brake programming
- Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
- Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction
- Monitor fabrication tasks and recommend quality improvement initiatives to the Fabrication Manager
- Aggressively pursue production due dates and the completion of hot parts
Qualifications:
- One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents such as safety rules and operating/maintenance/procedure manuals; write correspondence
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Computer proficiency in word processing, Internet, email, spreadsheets, and other software
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
