Production Manager – 1st Shift – Ellsworth, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a 1st Shift Production Manager in our Ellsworth facility. In this role, you will plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. This role will report to the Plant Manager.
This is a salaried position that works Monday to Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some Fridays as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate production, processing, and distribution of products from the Ellsworth manufacturing facility.
- Interface with departments to meet manufacturing objectives, company goals and customer’s needs.
- Review processing schedules and production orders to determine staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.
- Review plans and confer with research and support staff to develop new products and processes or improve the quality of existing products.
- Coordinate inventory and cost control programs.
- Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect production problems.
- Review operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
- Approve expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources.
- Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
- Train, evaluate, and discharge staff.
- Resolve personnel grievances.
- Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of production equipment operation
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and the ability to lead team to improvements
- Proficient computer skills in word processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, Software Concepts
- Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
