Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Intern Department: Production
Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager FLSA (Exempt / Non Exempt): Non Exempt
Job Summary: The primary goal of the Manufacturing Engineer - Intern is to assist with maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This may include the design, implementation, and/or auditing of the manufacturing equipment and processes. This may involve collaboration with various departments, for example assembly technicians, production supervisor, quality assurance, etc. to facilitate the assembly and test of products.
Job Details:
- Document the manufacturing processes and generate comprehensive visual and written work instructions that will provide step-by-step directions for the facility's technicians to assemble and test the product.
- Design and test tooling that will allow assembly technicians to safely and efficiently build products.
- Work with the Production Supervisor and QA to seek reduction in scrap. This includes working directly with employees in support of overall quality improvements.
- Facilitate a smooth transition of new products from the development phase to production.
- Support all lean initiatives throughout production. This includes coaching employees on the day to day requirements of 5S and all applicable lean tools in their area. They must help create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
- Research policies and regulations evaluate applicability and implement them.
- Ability to interpret and articulate technical and detailed information and specifications
- Ability to think creatively when developing solutions.
- Frequent usage of various measurement devices including calipers, scale, micrometer, height gage, depth gage, flow meter, and electrical analysis equipment.

Job Qualifications:
Required
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to learn and perform operation and maintenance tasks associated with various types of equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Machining, casting, processing, assembly, etc.
- Disciplined problem solver.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team with self-motivation.
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to learn software applications in a quick and efficient manner.
Preferred
- Working towards a college degree, in a related Engineering discipline, and/or technical degrees are highly desired and will receive preference.
- Experience with CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with GD&T.
- Ability to teach and mentor others.
