Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe, reliable transportation and essential services to Veterans. These services include assistance with transportation to and from VA health care facilities and authorized non-VA health care appointments for Veterans from all military branches and age groups. GPVSC serves 45 rural counties in Montana, with offices in Box Elder, Browning, and Fort Belknap. These rural counties face challenges in accessing VA healthcare,
As the Veteran Transport Specialist, you will receive an adjustable weekly base pay of $200 for on-call services, plus an hourly wage on actual hours worked. This position is part-time, and flexibility is available. The Transportation Specialist reports to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for many duties, including but not limited to :
Transporting Veterans to medical appointments.
Providing assistance to passengers to ensure safe boarding and disembarking of the vehicle.
Reporting any concerns or mentioned needs, in a timely manner, to the Support Services Manager for follow-up and referral services.
Monitoring and scheduling vehicle maintenance and managing transportation logs and receipts.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Must hold a valid Montana driver's license or US driver’s license with the ability to attain a Montana license within 60 days of hire and successfully complete a driver's history check.
- Must successfully complete CPR and Narcan training within 6-months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to drive a vehicle up to 10 hours per day.
Ability to change a flat tire.
Ability to carry client belongings to and from the vehicle (ex. Wheelchair, luggage, oxygen tanks, etc.). Lifting requirement up to 50 pounds.
Ability to escort clients with limited mobility to and from, and in and out of the vehicle.
Ability to drive during inclement weather conditions.
Occasional overnight travel is required.
