A Brief Overview
Drive a van primarily to deliver or pick up laundry, mail, specimens and supplies within a specified area per schedule. Duties to include loading and unloading vehicle.
What You Will Do
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Present receipts for gasoline purchased.
- Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.
- Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Drive to specific locations even during inclement weather. Supervisor will use best judgment on when to delay delivery/pick-ups.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Driver's License Required
- Previous experience in working in customer service Required
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Managing one's own time.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
