What are the responsibilities and job description for the SNAP Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time) position at Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank?
Summary: As part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Team, the SNAP Outreach Coordinator is responsible for administering assistance to people at a variety of convenient locations and providing user-friendly advice and electronic, online benefit application aid.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance through understanding SNAP benefits as well as act as a liaison for future client follow up and communication.
- Assist clients with SNAP enrollment; this includes making site visits as required.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of policy issues related to SNAP.
- Collect and report on required data.
- Identify and formally partner with appropriate sites to enroll potential SNAP participants.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities: As a part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, all employees play an essential role and are expected to:

- Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety.

- All Food Bank employees are considered critical first responders during emergency events (Hurricanes, Pandemics, etc.). This will require extreme flexibility of work schedule and hours during such events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of customer contact/customer service or human services, community based, or nonprofit experience required.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, telephone communication skills.
- Diplomatic skills to deal with many types of people on a regular basis, both on the phone and in person.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, most importantly Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to set own priorities and work independently.
- Ability to listen, assess and troubleshoot resistance to program enrollment.
- Sensitivity to diversity and the ability to work with people of different nationalities, ethnic origins, and socioeconomic levels is essential.
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.
- Operate a personal vehicle daily to partner sites.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- This position requires being in the field 70% of the time, driving 10% of the time, and working in an open office setting 20% of the time, however this is subject to the VP of Impacts’s approval.
