Rockwern Academy, Cincinnati’s Jewish community day school, is looking for a full-time Librarian for the 2025- 2026 school year.

Reporting Relationship
The position is responsible to the Principal.
Responsibilities
Supports learners as they develop a love of reading:
Teaches all students in the library (from toddlers through eighth graders)
Empowers all members of the learning community to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, curators, and ethical users of information; fosters exploration, discovery, creation, and innovation with a growth mindset
Supports learners' success by guiding them to read for understanding, breadth, and pleasure
In partnership with classroom teachers, supports learning objectives to develop individual and group inquiry-based learning experiences
In partnership with classroom teachers, models and champions digital citizenship and safety as well as adherence to copyright and fair use requirements
Manages the library:
Develops and maintains a teaching and learning environment that is fun, inviting, safe, flexible, collaborative, inclusive, and conducive to learning
Curates quality, diverse, inclusive, and relevant resources that support the school’s mission and curriculum as well as learners’ interests (including purchasing books, cataloging, shelving, and checking in/out)
Coordinates, plans, and leads the school's All School Read, Birthday Book Club, and Book Fair programs
Champions equity, access, and intellectual freedom for users within the library and beyond, including providing 24/7 access to the online library catalog and various information resources
Models and develops a commitment to respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in collection development and within the learning community; showcases different cultures through literature
Manages the budget, volunteers, and physical and virtual spaces of the school library including an annual inventory process
Evaluates, introduces, and models emerging technologies for the library
Develops partnerships and communicates effectively:
Builds relationships with organizations and stakeholders such as other schools, bookstores, Jewish community organizations, and especially public libraries
Coordinates author visits
Communicates with students and families in ways that promote engagement and partnership in educational outcomes.
Contributes, when asked, to the weekly e-newsletter or other communication or marketing vehicles
Is a thought partner on broader educational issues with other educators and administrators in the building
Partners with teachers and administration by providing materials and ideas for collaboration and best practices
Demonstrates commitment to teamwork and collegiality by helping others and accepting suggestions for improvement
Has a commitment to lifelong learning and assumes responsibility for professional development
Qualifications
A graduate degree earned at a college or university whose program is recognized by appropriate bodies such as the American Library Association (ALA), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL)/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), or state education agencies
Appropriate state certification as a school librarian (or eligible to receive it)
