Position Type: 12-month position
Winton Woods City Schools is seeking a qualified and committed individual to fill the position of District Hearing Officer / Supervisor of Alternative School Programs. This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the District's Alternative School Programs, overseeing student discipline hearings, and ensuring a supportive and positive learning environment for students who are facing behavioral and academic challenges. The successful candidate will work closely with district administrators, faculty, staff, students, and families to provide guidance, support, and interventions to promote student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the District Hearing Officer for student discipline hearings, ensuring fair and consistent application of district policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Alternative School, including managing curriculum, instruction, and student progress.
- Work closely with students, families, and staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students placed in the Alternative School.
- Supervise and support Alternative School staff, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure a high standard of education and student support.
- Ensure the Alternative School maintains a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning 7-12, school administrators, and district personnel to align the Alternative School’s goals with district objectives and improve student outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between the Alternative School, parents, and outside agencies to address student needs and ensure successful reintegration into the general education setting.
- Oversee student behavior management, implementing appropriate interventions and supports to address academic and behavioral challenges.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to student discipline, hearings, and progress in the Alternative School program.
- Assist with the development and implementation of district-wide initiatives related to student behavior, discipline, and alternative education.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the district’s overall mission and goals.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field.
- Valid administrative license or the ability to obtain one.
- Experience in educational leadership, school administration, or alternative education settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of student discipline procedures, legal requirements, and best practices in alternative education.
- Proven ability to manage student behavior and implement effective interventions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in creating and leading professional development for staff is a plus.
