Job Summary :

Under the Workforce, Adult Learning, and Financial Empowerment programs, the Community Workforce Coordinator assists students and clients in attaining employment and professional and personal development. Provides case management resources to assist in overcoming challenges and barriers to meet educational goals and obtain employment. Through individual consultations, classes, and group training, the incumbent assists students and clients in identifying their job skill aptitudes to attain employment and maximize their career goals. This includes providing internships and substituting as needed for Instructors in ESOL and Adult Learning classes to increase job opportunities and achieve financial stability. The Community Workforce Coordinator is an experienced, well-organized professional with prior ESOL and Adult Education Instructor experience, including in-person and online teaching acumen.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist students in identifying their professional goals, providing support in career readiness activities such as developing resumes, filling out applications, interview preparation, and using soft skills to gain and maintain employment. This position will offer academic support rather than job placement, as per funding guidelines.
  • Facilitate classroom instruction on topics like job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills, and using soft skills for employment success. The focus will be on providing students with the tools they need to succeed in their job search.
  • Provide community-based resources for job seekers, helping clients and students overcome barriers to meeting their educational and employment goals while emphasizing classroom learning over direct job placement assistance.
  • Monitor student progress at 60, 90, and 180 days after the program's completion to assess retention, success in applying career readiness skills, and any challenges encountered in securing or maintaining employment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support student learning and career exploration. Establish partnerships that provide students with opportunities to apply their learned skills in professional environments, such as internships or volunteer positions, without focusing on direct job placement.
  • Lead seminars and workshops that enhance career readiness, emphasizing career planning, resume development, and financial literacy to empower students to succeed professionally.
  • Guide students in making informed career decisions by performing skills assessments and advising them on how to align their skills with career goals, while staying within the scope of academic support rather than direct job placement.
  • Support job seekers in developing application materials and honing interview skills, offering mock interviews and workshops to ensure they are prepared for the job search process. Any connections to employers should be incidental, in the context of career readiness activities.
  • Track student performance through data entry and measurement systems, providing regular reports on the outcomes of career readiness initiatives to gauge the effectiveness of the Workforce program.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Education Coordinator to provide financial coaching sessions that complement the career readiness training, helping students understand how to achieve financial stability alongside their career goals.
  • Work with the Adult Learning division to support registration, assessment administration, and ongoing educational efforts to enhance students' academic and professional development.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Divisional Director.

Skills & Qualifications :

Associate's degree required / bachelor's degree preferred in a related field, with at least three (3)

years of experience performing comparable duties in workforce recruitment / development or case

management.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a requirement.

  • Financial Empowerment Coordinator to achieve financial stability and provide growth opportunities.
  • Prior ESOL Instructor experience to substitute as required in the classroom or online.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, maintaining databases, and knowledge of designed spreadsheets.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills are important.
  • Must have excellent programmatic ability and organizational, relationship-building, and motivational
  • skills. The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make GLCAC's clientele, to support the mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike

    Travel : Required to two local sites
