What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Instructor: Biology position at Greater Lowell Technical High School?
Overview:
To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their individual potential for personal and professional success.
The following is a brief sample of duties that are associated with this position; it is not all inclusive:
•To work cooperatively with and under the direction of the Cluster Chairperson/Director in the development of and implementation of individualized instruction.
•Plan lessons in the subject matter assigned
•Teach students in full class settings or in small groups
•Differentiate lessons to different student learning styles
•Develop, implement and grade individualized testing and student assessment
•Prepare students for standardized tests as required
•Develop and enforce classroom rules and administrative policies
•Create an environment that is positive and conducive for student learning.
•Participate in the development of individualized curriculum or modify existing curriculum as program changes in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
•Communicate with parents about students’ progress
•Work collegially with peers, administrators and other school staff
Qualifications:
Licensed as a Biology Instructor (8-12) by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required or possess the minimum requirements to be eligible for licensure; SEI endorsement.
