Position Overview : The GLSS Billing Assistant performs a variety of administrative duties to facilitate the vendor and consumer billing function for the Agency. As a member of the GLSS Billing Team the Billing Assistant's main responsibility is to receive bills from vendors and processing payment.
Position Responsibilities : Provides general administrative support to the GLSS Billing department. Performs provider verification and billing, primarily through the Provider Direct system. Interacts with providers on a regular basis regarding billing information and resolving billing issues. Responsible for remaining current and knowledgeable about Agency policies and operations and / or updates in their field of responsibility.
Qualifications :
Associates degree preferred, High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of three (3) years of recent, relevant experience in administrative support capacity in a finance setting.
Experience with billing, specifically Medicare / Medicaid, Behavioral Health and 3rd party billing.
Medical billing and coding certificate, a plus.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Understanding of accounting principles and terminology.
The ability to multitask
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft suite of products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional discretion and ability to maintain confidential information
Demonstrated experience with handling billing discrepancies in a professional manner.
Must be comfortable making outbound calls to vendors and / or providers for billing issues
Hours : Full Time 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
