What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Plant Manager position at Greater Omaha Packing Co.?
The HR Plant Manager is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and coordinating policies, procedures, and programs for efficient and effective utilization of the Human Resources functions in a plant environment. The incumbent will be able to effectively communicate with plant operations team, including health and safety, and develop strong relationships that promote a collaborative working environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and mentors others to ensure consistent application of all such rules and policies. Develops and implements innovative solutions to personnel and/ or labor relations issues affecting the plant to mitigate legal or compliance-related risks. Maintains a positive employee relations environment at the plant by counseling managers and employees on human resource policies and rules, identifying and resolving problems, or recommending courses of action.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee effective onboarding strategies and plans to ensure the successful assimilation of new hires, including orientation and all required training.
- Develops reports to track the results in in the Human Resources in relation to established goals and expectations of plant leadership. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Establish and clearly communicate job requirements to direct reports by providing frequent feedback and reviews on performance; accurately appraise performance results against communicated expectations and where necessary take timely action to resolve performance or work habit problems.
- Provide timely information to the VP of Human Resources to allow for the implementation of a cohesive plan of action and to drive overall results of the department, including reporting of activities in your area of responsibility and current status of personnel; accomplishments; status of projects; and any other information that you feel is relevant.. For any problem or opportunity identified, provide recommended action plan.
- Administer/ Enforce Company policies and processes
- Maintain good working relationships with various civic and welfare organizations, lo to maintain staffing and promote image of the Company
- Conduct internal investigations regarding policy violations, including allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct. Maintain confidentiality and ensure safe workplace. Handles all unemployment claims, investigating and responding to EEO charges.
- Conduct research into personnel programs/activities and recommend changes or innovations when desirable and or required.
- Assists in keeping employees informed of all changes in personnel policies; counsels employees on personnel policies and personal problems; and assists in finding solutions and appropriate adjustments to complaints received from management personnel and hourly employees.
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5 years relevant experience, required.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a position of leadership, including team development and management.
- Must have experience in a manufacturing environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, addressing groups and individuals, conduct investigations, counseling, training, and mentoring HR staff in English; Bilingual preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment would normally be an office setting, but may require trips through the entire facility which would include climate extremes.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management. The standard schedule is 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday. Weekend work is required based on operational necessity.
TRAVEL: Limited travel is required.
