What are the responsibilities and job description for the 4 Year Old Preschool Lead Teacher position at Greater Peace Community Development Corp?
- Curriculum development and implementation:
- Create lesson plans and follow a comprehensive curriculum, incorporating activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Plan engaging lessons, including storytelling, songs, games, arts and crafts, and outdoor play.
- Adapt activities to meet individual student needs and abilities.
- Classroom management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment with clear routines and expectations.
- Supervise children actively to ensure safety and well-being.
- Implement positive discipline strategies to manage behavior
- Child observation and assessment:
- Regularly observe children's development and progress using appropriate assessment tools
- Document observations and maintain individual student portfolios
- Communicate children's development and progress to parents through conferences and reports
- Parent communication:
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication, including daily updates, parent-teacher conferences, and open-door policy
- Collaborate with parents to create individualized learning plans for their children
- Collaboration with colleagues:
- Work effectively with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive learning environment
- Participate in team planning and professional development opportunities
Required skills and qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred) or related field or Associate's in Child Development
- Experience: Prior experience working with young children in a preschool setting is preferred
- Knowledge: Understanding of child development theories, best practices in early childhood education, and age-appropriate learning activities
- Background Check: Successfully pass a Child and Adult Neglect through DHR and an ABI/FBI Fingerprint Background Check (required every 3-5 years)
- Training: Must complete all DHR required training within the first 30 days of hire and complete required annual training each year.
- ServSafe Handler Certification: NOT REQUIRED; however, very beneficial to the organization.
