What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT Maintenance Supervisor - Facilities position at Greater Philadelphia YMCA?
POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Facility Director/Assistant Facility Director, ensure clean and effective physical plant operation and maintenance of the entire complex for all assigned facilities. Supervise Housekeeping/custodial Staff. Perform routine and preventative maintenance as per maintenance calendar. Inform management of any foreseeable problems with the facility. Perform any repairs or renovations to the facility as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on equipment as per weekly preventative maintenance calendar and maintain records.
Ensure all safety and risk management procedures are adhered to.
Assist and or perform projects of a special nature such as installation of new equipment. Ensure the safety and well-being of all constituents.
Perform routine inspections and repairs on all equipment.
Develop and maintain systems of energy management and monitoring.
Participate in Association Facilities Safety Team.
Maintain shop areas in neat, organized and orderly fashion.
Maintain current stock of maintenance supplies including but not limited to: light bulbs, paper supplies, pool chemicals etc. Ensure cost effective purchasing.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
18 years old with a high school or technical high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
3 years of building maintenance experience.
Knowledge of several trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.
Knowledge of landscaping and plant care.
Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations between staff, members, children, and volunteers accurately. The ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling; ability to move 20 pounds independently and utilize the “buddy system” or team lift for heavier items. The person needs to occasionally move about the program area to access materials, members/program participants, emergency equipment, etc. Constantly positions self to maintain program materials, including under desks, in closets, and on top of shelves. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to observe details at close range of objects where they actually are within a distance of 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The physical environment requires the employee to possibly work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure such as hearing protection and rubber gloves.
Acquire and maintain the following certifications:
CPR/AED/O2 (valid 2 years with exception of Aquatics to renew annually), First Aid (valid 2 years) obtained through the American Red Cross
Requisite OSHA online trainings (valid 1 year unless otherwise noted)
Mandated Reporter Training (valid 5 years)
Additional training and development specific to your role as reference in onboarding packet.
