Description
Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Assist Pharmacist in specific dispensing functions:
- Receiving and interpreting medication orders.
- Profiling such orders in CPSI computer system.
- Occasionally filling medication patient drawers through the unit-dose system.
- Routinely refilling Pyxis Stations.
- Places drug order in the Wholesaler order entry computer system.
- Checks in and stocks drug orders as they are received.
- Completing paperwork on such functions.
- Perform IV additive functions and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) preparation as directed by pharmacist.
- Operate the unit dose packaging machines as needed.
- Maintain prepackaged Pyxis Station stock for ER.
- Respect and preserve patient confidential information.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and medical staff information.
- Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Be alert to accident-producing hazards and promotion of safety; knowledgeable of fire and evacuation plans/protocols.
- Make economical use of time, supplies and equipment.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Pharmacist-in-charge.
- Regularly performs Pharmaceutical Care for a patient age range from newborn to geriatric. May have occasional patient contact.
- Deliver orders to hospital inpatient and outpatient units.
- Keep the department neat, clean, and in an orderly manner.
- Answer phones, take messages etc.
- Display confidentiality with patients
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Basic typing and/or computer skills.
- Successfully completes and passes Pharmacy Technician Certification Program and is certified and registered within 12 months of hire.
- Maintains certification by attending 20 hours of approved CE in 2-year period.
