What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Greater's?
The Buyer works across all functions of the companys operations to support procurement and supply chain needs. Establish and maintain supplier relationships for raw materials and supplies for manufacturing operations. Source and negotiate pricing for retail operations supplies and consumables. Establish and monitor purchasing systems, controls and processes to deliver value to the organization and support continued growth.

KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Builds procurement systems and processes that span all functions of the organization:
- Set up part numbers for purchase items as needed, including pricing, costing, lead-time, supplier, and MRP planning information.
- Process purchase orders and/or blanket orders and order needed materials to meet production requirements.
- Updates and maintains database to ensure correct pricing and item information.
- Owner of Supplier Listing, Contracts, New Supplier Qualification, and Saving Tracker
- Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure continuous, on-going improvement of process methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
2) Identifies and sources products and ingredients:
- Develop close relationships with vendors and follow up on any shortages that will affect scheduled production. Communicate all issues to planning and production teams.
- Work with alternate vendors to manage circumstances when demand exceeds capacity and possible supply interruption.
- Create, analyze, and award vendor bids for all business units and categories. Negotiates for best costs, arranges vendor contracts, and observes quality of purchased materials.
- Negotiate conditions with vendors including price, days of payment, quality, and delivery times.
- Manage internal PO requisition flow of expense and services
- Request and track samples for New Development projects.
- Support new product introductions, placing initial orders and monitoring delivery.
3) Supply Chain:
- Prepare market trend, new product introduction, and alternative item and supplier business options.
- Keeps Manager informed of matters relating to purchasing, pricing, market information, and supplier relations.
- Lead subcontract 3rd party production, develop supply plan, delivery of components to supplier, delivery of Finished Goods to Graeters and off site inventories.
- Liaison for outside warehouse storage supplier.
- Work with Quality to investigate supplier quality issues, driving resolution and corrective action.
- Support accounts payable as needed to ensure payables are processed timely and accurately.
4) Other Duties and Projects as necessary or assigned. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 3-5 years working in procurement/supply chain roles.
- Strategic and tactical procurement, including contract negotiation and management.
- Food production processes and requirements.
- Commodity purchasing and working directly with food producers and brokers.
- Leadership: 2 years leading a small team.
- Education: Bachelors degree or comparative experience.

- Occasional work in manufacturing where conditions vary from freezers (-20 to -40 degrees) to ambient non-temperature controlled environment
