Assistant Site Supervisor
The “Assistant Site Supervisor” is responsible for the daily supervision of after-school program participants grades K-5. They are responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of all program components and program activities in the Princeton Young Achievers After School program.
The Group Leader guides the academic and social development of children; ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. Assistant Site Supervisor use a variety of resources, provided by the Site Supervisor to introduce new skills throughout the execution of activities. To accomplish this, Group Leaders are required to participate in ongoing professional development and planning sessions with the Site Supervisor on a scheduled basis.
The Assistant Site Supervisor must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals, and visions for serving the community. This job is fully on-site, not remote. The Assistant Site Supervisor will be responsible for the following :
Principal Activities :
- Supervises groups of children and leads staff when applicable.
- Assist Site Supervisor in the opening and closing of the site on a daily basis.
- Perform the duties of the Site Supervisor in their absence from the program.
- Plans and implements a varied and challenging program of activities for children (ages 6-13) which includes Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
- Create and maintain a fun environment for children to work and play productively and comfortably, and have full access to all necessary materials.
- Demonstrate leadership and be a positive influence and role model to colleagues and staff.
- Communicate issues related to students to Site Supervisor & Program Director.
- Supervise volunteers in partnership with Site Supervisor.
- With Site Supervisor, support parent / family communication and follow-up.
- Supervise and manage daily snack.
- Maintain and track supplies for programs and activities including equipment and program supplies; administrative supplies; and first aid equipment.
- Maintain rosters and attendance records and assure accurate record-keeping.
- Implement safety measures / regulations in compliance with NJ Department of Children & Families – Office of Licensing & Community Partners.
- Supervise and document fire drills.
- Ensure implementation of the health and safety policies that pertain to program participants and staff at all times, including follow through on all incident reports and document filing.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Support efforts of promotion and publicity of all YMCA programs.
- Ensure that all Emergency Procedures are carried out in accordance with Princeton YMCA standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that program provides a positive image of the YMCA within the community, in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the Princeton YMCA.
