What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conservation Corpsmember- Sonora position at Greater Valley Conservation Corps?
Job Summary: A local Conservation Corps is a job training program that employs 18-26 year old young adults.
Corpsmembers support a wide variety of projects with parks and recreation, schools, businesses, non-profits and municipalities. This includes outreach opportunities, recycling services and waste diversion amnesties. Natural resource projects will include landscape maintenance, habitat restoration, fuel loads management, forestry related activities, Caltrans roadside teams, vegetation removal, tool/equipment maintenance, trail construction and evasive species removal and more!
Natural Resource Division:
1. Working in outdoor habitat restoration projects.
2. Fuel loads project, invasive species removal, fire breaks, seed collection, etc.
3. Seeding and tree planning.
4. Tree mortality and tree felling.
5. Cone and seed collection.
6. Tree nursery and arborist training.
7. Wildlands forest firefighting training.
8. Habitat restoration projects will include; staking trees, and removal of invasive species.
COMPENSATION:

GVCC is also currently partnering with Columbia College to provide an OJT program for student members. Students will have the opportunity to work forestry related projects for GVCC while attending college classes. In addition, certifications, workshops and skills trainings will be included.
