We are searching for an attentive, doting Animal Trainer/Groomer/ Kennel Caretaker, to oversee the well-being of our animals and show dogs, on our private farm.
**Must live within 15 minutes of Madison.**
Currently: 9-12 Large and Small Show Dogs and Pets, 2 Cats. Subject to change at any time.
The Kennel Attendant’s responsibilities include: cleaning kennels, administering medication,
and providing animals with food and water. Plus LOTS of Play Time! To ensure success as a
Kennel Attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals and
understand and apply basic dog training and dog grooming. Ultimately, a top notch Kennel
Attendant will be able to tailor their care according to the animal’s physical, emotional, and
behavioral difficulties.
Kennel Attendant Requirements:
Must have own transportation
Must be able to pay close attention to small details or changes in any animal’s behavior or
changes within the kennel or farm itself
Grooming experience (not just bathing)
Basic Obedience Dog Training experience
Previous Professional experience caring for animals
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
Physically fit and agile
Capacity to lift 50 pounds unaided
A passion for animal welfare
Must be able to stand, walk for the duration of the shift
Available to work days, weekends, and public holidays as required
Kennel Attendant Responsibilities
Ensuring animals have fresh food and water at all times
Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels of the farm
Disposing of trash in a timely manner
Grooming, playing with the animals, participating in animal training
Administering treatment to animals under the direction of the Veterinarian
Accompanying animals on walks if required
Calming animals who are in distress
Adjusting the air temperature to ensure the animals remain comfortable
Reporting significant changes in function to the manager
Evacuating animals if an emergency occurs
Transporting animals to and from the kennels, play yard or animal hospital, if necessary
This is a dream job for someone who wants to work on a Farm or in a Dog Kennel and work
with Show Dogs. Our small team consists of 3-4 independent employees.
The employees work schedule is flexible and yet consistent and stable. The schedule is made
on a monthly basis.
We are looking for someone who is responsible, has time management skills and enjoys
variety and growth through training. Most work shifts will have staffing of 2-3 employees at
a time.
The position we are filling is 4 days on, 3 days off, 7:30-4:00 or 5 days, if desired.
Hourly Pay $17-$18/hr. based on experience.
Hiring Process:

shadow the staff on a normal work day for a few hours. If hired, there is a 90 day
Probationary Period.
