Green Hills AEA is recruiting for a Special Education Consultant. This position is a full time position for a 190 day contract. Applicant must be eligible for Iowa licensing through the Board of Educational Examiners.

Starting salary will be between $52,637 - 83,907 depending on education and years of experience for a 190 day contract. Additional paid professional development days are available. Qualifications: Meet Iowa Standards of Current Licensing for a Special Education Consultant
General Responsibilities:
Function as the Special Education Consultant with major responsibility for
providing consultation to programs for children with special needs, AEA
content consultants, and LEA teachers. Willingness to lead through
coaching, consultation and collaboration with AEA colleagues and LEA
personnel.
Provide direct consultation to general and special education service
teachers concerning behavior of students, curriculum
development/adjustment, student learning style, adoption of methods and
materials.
Disseminate new technology and innovations concerning appropriate
programming for students. Facilitate the implementation of such
programming and provide ongoing follow-up.
Responsible for arranging, planning, and delivery of appropriate agency
approved staff development activities as directed by the Regional
Administrator.
Function as a member of problem-solving/intervention team(s). Work
collaboratively with educators and parents to motivate students within
their environment.
Demonstrate knowledge of current best vocational, transition and
curricular practices in reading, math, language and behavior intervention,
and in other accommodation techniques.
Participate in continuing professional development activities to enhance
professional knowledge and skills.
Develop specific objectives for the assignment The objective will serve as
a base toward implementation of agency’s goals and mission and serve as
criteria for evaluating service provided.
