About Two Roads Academy (TRA)Two Roads Academy is an approved therapeutic independent school located in Colchester Vermont, serving middle and high school students ages 10-21. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive learning environment for all students, and we offer individualized instruction and small group learning in a developmentally appropriate, therapeutic environment for students whose needs cannot be met in public school.

Our multidisciplinary team includes Content Area Teachers (arts, history, literacy, outdoor education, math, and science), a licensed Special Educator, a Behavior Specialist, a Program Manager, an Educational Coordinator, and a team of dedicated direct-support staff (Behavior ACTivists).

We are seeking a School Director to provide leadership, support staff development, and respond to student needs in our dynamic school community.

Details & Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Overseeing the hiring process and on-boarding of new staff.
  • Create and facilitate ongoing professional development for staff throughout the school year, including weekly staff meetings and scheduled in-service opportunities.
  • Provide direct supervision of all professional staff and oversee the supervision of direct support staff.
  • Manage the enrollment process for students.
  • Ensure familiarity with and implementation of Hazing, Harassment, and Bullying policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the overall health and wellbeing of the student population.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for communication with sending schools.
  • Develop strong relationships with student parents, caregivers, and team members to maintain open, consistent communication about student growth, challenges, and successes.
  • Ensure clear, consistent and quick communication regarding changes, needs and programming.
  • Oversee academic programs to ensure they meet the Vermont Agency of Education (AOE) guidelines and align with Vermont Portrait of a Graduate.
  • Ensure engaging and effective academic content delivery.
  • Manage quarterly reporting and serve as an active member of students' IEP/504 teams.
  • Ensure the implementation of Act 29 and compliance with all school safety policies and procedures as per the AOE.
  • Ensure compliance with all AOE guidelines and requirements.
  • Oversee the school’s budget and ensure adherence to financial constraints.
  • Communicate with sending schools regarding student contracts.
  • Oversee the general upkeep of the school building and grounds.
  • Maintain educational and staff records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Foster an environment of equity and inclusion for both students and staff.__

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree Required (Masters Degree preferred)

  • Preferred: Previous experience in Educational Leadership.
  • Preferred: Experience working in independent schools.
  • Ideal Candidate: Extensive experience in the academic environment, including in a supervisory capacity and a deep understanding of both Special Education and general education.
