Summary: An Account Manager for Green Summit Landscape Management manages the customer relationship through exceptional communication and follow up. This is achieved through adhering to customer service best practices which includes providing solutions to customer’s problems through irrigation and enhancement sales. An Account Manager is compensated with a base salary and earns quarterly commissions for irrigation and enhancement sales.
Reports to: Customer Experience Director
Account Manager Responsibilities:
- Manages a Book of Business by proactively establishing a working and professional relationship with each client (point of contact and other key relationships). When there is a change in customer (i.e. change in Property Manager, Owner etc.) the Account Manager promptly meets the new Point of Contact and establishes the relationship by bringing to their attention current issues/needs and informs them of relevant property history.
- Proactively manages the client’s needs and expectations by offering landscape industry solutions to help maintain property values. Monitors the customer’s properties and brings to their attention any enhancement opportunity, pest disease or nutrient deficiency in plants and trees, and irrigation leaks or upgrades to the irrigation system.
- Achieves Enhancement Sales by providing proposals/bids proactively and by-request from the customer. Enhancement Sales Goal is set based on Book of Business. A quarterly commission for enhancement sales is provided (see Account Manager Compensation Plan).
- Using the Green Summit Estimator, performs estimating as required for enhancement proposals/bids.
- Creates Work Order tickets for irrigation repairs, clean ups, and spray.
- Responds to customer request via email, text, or phone call (i.e. irrigation leaks and other needs as required). Determines customer’s ideal form of communication and uses it as required.
- Meets face to face with customers onsite or at their office on a regular basis to maintain customer interaction. Stops in or calls ahead as directed by the customer.
- Attends customer meetings when needed. (i.e. Board of Director meetings etc.) These meetings could occasionally be scheduled after-hours or weekends.
- Attends the daily huddle meeting with the operations team to ensure communication of daily activities.
- Attends weekly Enhancement Scheduling and Sales meeting. Reports any new sales updates at this meeting and ensures that sold enhancements are added to the production schedule.
- Meets with Field Operation Managers on sites when needed to ensure customers expectations are being met. Meets the Maintenance Crew on site during weekly service, if needed. It is the Account Manager’s responsibility to bring to the attention of the operations team the expectations of the customer. Invites FOM to customer meetings when needed.
- Sends annual proposals/letters such as Bagworm Letters, Annual Flower/Color estimates, and Snow & Ice Service Agreements and Snow & Ice Specification Checklists. Others as required.
- Sends annual landscape budgets to customers prior to “budgeting season.” Usually starts around August each year.
- Sends annual contract renewals 30-45 days before the contract renewal date. Discusses the potential contract increase with the customer approximately 60 days before the renewal. This can be face to face or by phone conversation.
- Performs snow and ice watch duty in order to provide information for the operations team to mobilize appropriately for Snow and Ice services. Monitors winter weather/snowstorms by weather apps or local weather stations. When there is a high percentage of snow fall, drives a designated route to selected properties to provide snow accumulation amounts to the operations team. Due to the timing of snowstorms this usually occurs during evening, late night, and/or early mornings. Responds to customer’s snow related questions and/or concerns during a snow event.

Education: 4-year College degree or equivalent is preferred but not required. Preferably a Business and/or Landscape Management Degree.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Windows 10 and earlier editions and latest editions in Microsoft Office applications; typing speed a minimum 65 wpm.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a professional office setting. Often times will be working alone and therefore required to be self-motivated and self-starting to accomplish the job duties and responsibilities.
Must have a valid and current driver’s license.
