Position Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing Services to oversee and direct the operations of the Nursing Department in our facility. The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for ensuring that the highest quality of resident care is maintained at all times, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
As the Director of Nursing Services, you will lead and support a team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nurse Assistants, ensuring optimal staffing levels and the smooth operation of nursing functions 24 hours a day. This leadership position will require you to manage personnel, staff schedules, and patient care, while maintaining a compassionate and professional environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, develop, and direct the Nursing Department to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, and ongoing management of nursing staff.
- Monitor staffing levels and adjust schedules to meet resident care needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and address personnel issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist in government surveys and inspections.
- Foster an atmosphere of warmth, compassion, and professionalism within the nursing team.
- Work closely with the Nursing Home Administrator and Regional Nurse Consultant to meet operational goals.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with some experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Must possess excellent management, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead a diverse team.
- Skills: Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; proficient in the use of computers and medical technology.
- Communication: Ability to communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform tasks such as standing or sitting for long periods, lifting 30 pounds, and maintaining the physical stamina needed for this role.
- Emotional Resilience: Ability to handle the emotional demands of working with geriatric, mentally ill, dementia, and disabled residents.
- Compliance: Must adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
