A well-respected and growing dermatology practice in Marin County is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and knowledgeable Medical Assistant (MA) to join our practice.
At Greenbrae Dermatology, we strive to always provide a personalized experience that is tailored to the needs of individual patients. We provide a full range of dermatological services, from cosmetic and laser treatments to skin cancer screenings and surgery.
We are looking for a hardworking and compassionate person with experience as a medical assistant and/or medical scribe to work alongside our providers to deliver individualized, patient-centered care.
We currently have 3 physicians and 2 physician assistants seeing patients during the week M-F. In addition, we have a physician specializing in Mohs who performs surgery in the office 1-2x per month on Saturdays. Our growing practice will be adding more providers in the near future, so we are looking for a full-time MA to work 5 days per week, including some Saturdays.
2 year commitment required.
In this role, you will:
-Function primarily as a medical assistant to room patients, update the medical chart, prepare patients for cosmetic and surgical procedures, assist with minor surgeries, perform suture/bolster removals, and provide wound care information
-Scribe for the provider as needed, including pre-charting
-Work alongside the providers and in a team with other MAs to improve patient and workflow
-Use clinical skills for specimen collection and documentation to accurately track biopsy specimens sent out for pathology reading
-Perform important clerical duties in a timely manner, including relaying biopsy results, sending referrals and lab orders, submitting prior authorizations, responding to refill requests and patient inquiries/advice requests
Skills/Qualities required:
-Previous use of EMR (preferably EMA/ModMed)
-Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
-Abilitiy to work efficiently and independently, as well as part of a team, to complete multiple tasks in a environment with frequent interruptions
-Critical thinking skills to identify, assess, and resolve standard clinical and clerical problems by selecting the appropriate established protocol
-Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough
-Friendly and approachable to help patients feel at ease
Education:
-High school diploma required
-Associate's degree or higher required
-Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred
Work experience:
-MA and/or medical scribe experience required
-Experience working in dermatology highly preferred
Certification & Licensure:
BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required
Medical Assistant Certification highly preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities we're looking for:
-Keyboard proficiency (60 words per minute typing speed)
-Understanding of HIPAA requirements
-Professionalism, social perceptiveness, service-oriented, and receptive to feedback
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA guidelines
-General understanding of insurance (deductibles, co-insurance, CPT codes, etc.)
-Experience with iPledge, photodynamic therapy (PDT), biologics, and/or surgical procedures a plus
Qualified candidates with at least 1.5 years of hands-on healthcare experience should apply. Applicants with prior dermatology experience will be given first consideration.
Full-time position
Pay range: $24-$27 -- based off experience
Shift hours: 8 hours
Days of the Week: M-F, occasional Saturdays
