General Responsibilities
Assists Treasurer with management of GCESC organization’s accounting and payroll functions
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, business or related field preferred
- Associates’ degree in finance, accounting, business or related field and/or a high school diploma with equivalent accounting experience
- Experience and/or training in fund accounting and/or payroll operations
- Treasurer license preferred.*Assistant Treasurer title, Bachelor Treasurer License salary column if employee has valid, current Ohio Treasurer License
- Ability to handle confidential matters, set priorities, work well under pressure with attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with State Redesign fiscal software (USAS & USPS)
- Bookkeeping skills, ability to consistently computer mathematical data accurately
- Proficient in office protocol, data entry, spelling, proofreading, and correct use of grammar
- Multitasking ability and strong communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to conceptualize, evaluate, prioritize, and solve complex problems
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team
- Valid Ohio School District Treasurer’s License or ability to obtain preferred but not required
- Meets all prerequisite qualifications to be bonded
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform duties and administrative support functions necessary for the daily operations of GCESC’s fiscal office
- Process onboarding of new employees including background checks
- Process payrolls with contract salaries and time sheet calculations
- Process and maintain payroll deduction payments and records
- Process and maintain monthly/quarterly/annual tax reporting
- Process and maintain monthly retirement reports
- Process and maintain monthly insurance reports and payments
- Process benefits for current and new employees
- Produce staff contracts and salary notices
- Maintain staff personnel files and employment verification
- Maintain staff work calendars
- Process and maintain staff attendance records through Kiosk Manager
- Process BWC paperwork and reporting
- Maintain FMLA records, process reports, approve or deny applications based on rules and regulations
- Maintain staff EMIS reporting
- Process employment verifications
- Use computerized accounting systems to prepare accurate records suitable for audits
- Maintain an appropriate filing system to ensure the safe retention of office records
- Gather and organize data required to keep the Treasurer informed of pertinent issues
- Other appropriate duties as determined by Treasurer
