What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Clerk of Court position at Greene County Government?
This is responsible administrative, legal and accounting work assisting the maintenance of records and filing of lawsuits and related pleadings for Chancery Court. Activities associated with the job include opening new child support cases and/or reopening existing child support cases, issuing and monitoring attachments and cash bonds, filing lawsuits and pleadings, preparing docket sheets for new and/or reopened lawsuits, executing garnishments, providing information to the public regarding the status of their legal proceedings and assisting with the operations of Chancery Court. Additional activities include assisting with recording open and closed cases for submission to the Tennessee Judicial Information System (TJIS) and closing adoption files for submission to the State. Additional activities include assisting with delinquent tax sales, processing and completing Capiases and Mittimus and assisting with a variety of civil filings. Job related duties require dedicated attention to detail due to the complexity and detailed nature of the information utilized on the job, knowledge of required legal documents and proceedings associated with Chancery Court, good interpersonal, organizational and decision making skills and experience performing a variety of administrative and accounting functions. Job performance is reviewed by the Clerk and Master through review of the accuracy, timeliness and thoroughness of completed work, knowledge of Chancery Court operations, interpersonal, organizational and decision making skills and the organization and efficiency of the Clerk and Master’s office. Job activities are also subject to state audit.
