What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Financial Counselor position at GREENE COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER?
- Full-time position (80 hours/2-week pay period)
- Benefits eligible, PTO, IPERS
- Act as contact person for all financial services related to patient care and payment.
- Assist patients seeking medical services and needing financial assistance or insurance eligibility determination.
- Enhance the patient experience by explaining medical bills, insurance coverage, and financial responsibility to patients.
- Explain to patients and families the medical center's billing procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of community services and resources available to patients.
- Preferred: Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school)
- Preferred: Six months to one year related experience
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish language
- Required: Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Required: Knowledge of regulations regarding financial eligibility for government medical assistance programs
- Required: Knowledge of medical terminology
