Position: Environmental Waste Technician
Location: Durham, NC
Pay: $28 to $32/hour (depending on experience)
Experience:
- Experience working with regulated waste streams and emergency response preferred.
- 5 years of hazardous waste or related EHS experience (Field Services, LQG, TSDF).
Education: High school diploma required; technical training or military background preferred.
Type: Full-time; Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting time of 6am (exact shift may vary slightly)
Greene Resources is seeking an Environmental Waste Technician to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
- Maintain compliance with hazardous waste regulations across multiple sites.
- Ensure all waste containers are correctly labeled, stored, and segregated per policy.
- Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly inspections with accurate documentation.
- Assist with chemical waste identification, inventory management, and shipment prep.
- Support emergency spill cleanup situations in a support capacity while using full PPE.
- Use a respirator safely during designated waste-handling tasks (approx. 1 hour every 3 days).
- Communicate with EHS teams, internal departments, and vendors as needed.
- Coordinate and maintain environmental sampling records and equipment calibrations.
- Prepare for extreme weather conditions affecting chemical storage or waste areas.
- Assist with various EHS tasks, audits, and initiatives across the team.
Position Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation to travel between work sites within Durham (Silicon Dr., Moore Dr., RTP, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and with a collaborative team.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in physically demanding and regulated environments.
Required Certifications:
- DOT Hazardous Materials Basics.
- RCRA Training.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER (preferred; will train if needed).
- Must pass respirator fit test and medical clearance.
