What are the responsibilities and job description for the Web UI Developer position at Greenville County?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead UI/UX design for websites and software platforms we develop for County agencies
You must be able to show a relevant portfolio sample of a custom-designed software interface you have created.
- Create user interface graphics, icons, and components for new and existing websites
- Create responsive design templates for desktop, tablets, and mobile devices using a mobile-first approach
- Assist in developing the next-generation versions of our website content management system
- Contribute to website design discussions, providing feedback on usability and feasibility from a design perspective
- Assist in creating engaging visual content regarding IT policies and initiatives in various media forms
- Track performance and implement user experience optimization strategies
- Assist in designing tools that enhance the user’s website experience
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and remain compliant with Greenville County employee policies
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
· Understanding of key website design principles and SEO optimization
· Experience in designing mobile and web-based software platform interfaces
· Ability to design visual interfaces for multi-page websites that drive user engagement and navigation
· Ability to use insights from website tracking metrics and heat maps to drive design
· Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator Graphics
· Familiarity with website content management and activity tracking systems
· Naturally curious and proactive in learning with a willingness to explore new technologies as the landscape changes
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
· Ability to understand business needs and find technical solutions
The following is preferred but not required:
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Studio
- Knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS)/Azure DevOps
· Familiarity with Relational Databases and SQL
Education and/or Experience:
- 2 years of experience in building well-performing, public-facing web experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in web design, graphic design, or related field
- Other combinations of experience and education may be considered
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally may require light lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Office environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.

Pay: $59,073.00 - $66,988.00 per year
