JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, the Network Engineer installs, configures, and supports the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. Responsible for the availability, reliability, performance, security and maintenance of the Enterprise and SCADA network infrastructure. This includes future design, implementations and operational support for all security and network related initiatives. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Provides Tier 3 support to the organization. Responds to emergencies during off-hours as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for network maintenance including the daily operations of managing the network, operation of networking components such as switches, routers, firewalls, access points, hubs, bridges, and transport media (wire, fiber optic cable, and/or wireless), as well as operation of configuration and management software tools.
- Primary support of the enterprise IP network infrastructure as designed and implemented.
- Designs and/or implements network installations encompassing all aspects of network installation, including design, budget estimates, planning, inside/outside plant, post-install inspection, as-built drawings and test results. Supports Management with network strategies, test systems and develop system standards.
- Provides primary support for SCADA network, specific to the network design, management and maintenance of network devices/components that provide connectivity between the SCADA and Corporate networks.
- Researches emerging technologies and makes appropriate recommendations to improve network performance, security and reliability.
- Recommends procedures and controls for problem prevention, network or security related.
- Monitors network health, security and performance; takes correction action, when necessary, to ensure optimal response times for users, applications and systems.
- Trains users on software, hardware, and operating systems; utilizing appropriate training material or arranges training with training coordinator.
- Performs root cause analysis and develops checklists for typical problems.
- Documents internal policies and/or develops training material for end-users; this includes network documentation.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in field; includes self-study and company provided training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Must possess and maintain a valid SC driver's license.
Certifications Required:
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise (ENARSI or ENSLD) certification required.
