Position Overview:
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing and procuring construction materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery to meet project deadlines. This role requires strong analytical skills, supplier management expertise, and a proactive approach to cost control and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to secure high-quality materials at competitive prices.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to optimize cost savings and delivery schedules.
- Analyze market trends and material availability to anticipate pricing fluctuations and procurement challenges.
- Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure material needs are met for each phase of construction.
- Monitor inventory levels and purchase orders to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards regarding material quality and sustainability.
- Evaluate vendor performance and explore alternative sourcing options to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience with vendor contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite and Quick Books.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
