Job Summary:
The Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of private events, club functions, golf events, and member-related activities at Greenwich Country Club. This includes weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, and other member-focused events. The role involves managing all administrative aspects of event preparation to ensure that policies are adhered to, and financial objectives are met. The Events Manager will work cross-functionally with all departments to ensure a seamless experience for members and their guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination & Execution:
Oversee the planning and booking of events such as banquets, luncheons, weddings, and social functions. Ensure all necessary details are captured to guarantee successful event execution.
Guide members and sponsored guests in proposing menus, event times, floor plans, and other key event details.
- Administrative Duties:
Handle event-related administrative tasks, including preparing place cards, floor plans, printed menus, event signage, and monthly calendars.
Create Banquet Event Orders (BEO) that detail all aspects of each event and secure timely signatures.
- Vendor & Equipment Management:
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure quality service and competitive pricing.
Procure outside services and equipment as needed, ensuring all event specifications are met.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Coordinate with the Culinary Team, Banquet Team, Restaurant Managers, and other departments to ensure smooth event execution.
Review event requirements during weekly Clubhouse Operations meetings and communicate member needs effectively.
- Event Design & Development:
Collaborate with the Director of Events, Executive Chef, and other departments to design and execute memorable Club events, including event themes, decorations, linens, entertainment, and props.
- Client Relationships & Follow-Up:
Ensure member and guest satisfaction by addressing any complaints or concerns. Follow up after events to ensure ongoing satisfaction and secure future bookings.
- Billing & Financial Oversight:
Oversee the final billing of each event, ensuring accuracy and approval.
- Training & Development:
Stay current with trends in event planning and catering by attending seminars, reading industry publications, and pursuing additional education.
- Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as required by the Events Director, Director of Food & Beverage, and Assistant General Manager.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of management experience in catering sales or event planning, preferably in a resort, club, or hospitality setting.
- Experience in managing weddings or fine dining events is a plus.
- Education:
- A degree from a hospitality, hotel, or restaurant management program is preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Food safety certification.
- Alcoholic beverage certification.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with members, guests, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple events and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
- Knowledge of event planning software (Jonas, Reserve Cloud or similar) is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
