Job Description
The Custodian will perform a variety of janitorial, custodial, and/or security tasks to maintain clean and safe buildings.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment while ensuring housekeeping duties are completed as required
- Sweeps, mops, dusts, vacuums all assigned areas daily
- Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures
- Operates powered janitorial tools/equipment(I.E floor scrubber, polishers, and vacuums)
Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies
- Restocks paper products, soaps, sanitizers, and other hygiene items
- Spot-cleans spills, stains, and smudges
- Monitors high-traffic areas for cleanliness (I.E. breakrooms, conference rooms, entryways, and lobby)
Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
Determines appropriate cleaning materials, supplies, tools, and equipment needed to accomplish job
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules
High motivated, disciplined problems-solver/troubleshooter
Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solution
Strong ethics and ability to work in team environment Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
