The Electrical Apprentice assists with electrical installation, monitoring, and repairs under the direction of the Electrical Department supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage time and complete all tasks delegated by the supervising authority
- Assist electricians in all functions including the maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical equipment
- Install basic electrical units and systems under the supervision of the electrician
- Assist in the repair, replacement, and refurbishing of all electrical units and damaged parts
- Assist with testing of electrical components
- Appropriately read electrical blue prints and schematics
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
- Attend job training and other related activities
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality work
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under direct supervision
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
- Experience in electrical installation and repair in an industrial work environment is preferred
- Vocational training is preferred
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification is preferred
- CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred
- NFPA 70E Certification (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace) is preferred
