Position Summary:Greg Orick II Marine Construction Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with QuickBooks, strong knowledge of job costing, and a solid foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role will support day-to-day accounting functions and provide financial insights critical to the success of our construction projects and company operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform daily accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Manage and reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a regular basis.
- Maintain and review accurate job cost records for all ongoing and completed projects.
- Prepare and analyze job cost reports, identifying variances and supporting project managers with financial insights.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
- Monitor and maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
- Collaborate with the project management and operations teams to ensure accurate job costing and budget tracking.
- Assist with audits, budget preparation, and financial planning as needed.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting records and documentation.
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience; construction industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) is required.
- Strong understanding of job costing in a construction or project-based environment.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience with construction management or project accounting software.
- Familiarity with AIA billing and certified payroll processes.
- Knowledge of lien waivers, retainage, and other construction accounting processes.
